Being on Keto a lot of times can lead to needing to make many of your own things such as breads and dough and much more. Some of these things can include pizza crusts, pancakes, biscuits, etc. Having a full time job, I am just not always able to spend so much time in the kitchen. Of course you can buy keto breads and things at many grocery stores but lets' be real they are sooo expensive! I was at Walmart one day and came across this product called Carbquik. I was not really sure what it was but I remembered seeing some things about it on YouTube and some social media posts. I looked it up when I got home and found that its' basically a keto friendly version of Bisquick. If you aren't familiar with Bisquik basically it is a ready to go mix you can buy and use to make many things such as pizza dough, pancakes, and biscuits to name a few. You know, all the stuff we can't have on a Keto or Low Carb lifestyle.
I have seen both positive and negative things about Carbquik mainly negative from people who live a strict keto or low carb diet which is definitely understandable. However, personally for me I do dirty Keto and just thought I would give it a try so the next time I went to Walmart I bought a box of Carbquik. Carbquik provides various recipes inside their box and one of the recipes was for pizza so that is what I decided to go with. My teenage son had been wanting pizza that week so I figured why not right. So we followed the directions for their pizza and we just wanted to see if the taste was even any good. We not only made a pizza but while I was at it, I decided at the last minute to also make another pizza crust but spread it with a garlic butter to make a "garlic bread" type of dough. So here is why your here right to find out if it was even any good. Well it was very good! We all liked it and was much better than we expected it to be. The pizza crust felt like a real dough and held up really well. The crust did not bend or was flimsy it really did hold up well with the toppings. Yes, even my teenage son couldn't tell it was "keto". My Conclusion about Carbquik
So you probably want to know about my final thought about Carbquik. So, here it is. If you are super strict Keto or in need of something gluten free, then Carbquik unfortunately is not the best choice for you. I have seen may people say Carbquik is gluten free but it does contain gluten. Please always make sure you read the ingredients listing on the products you buy. As for me, I eat gluten and i am not strict Keto. I am able to lose weight doing dirty keto and Carbquik is okay for me. I definitely enjoyed the taste of this product and overall this is how I feel. I believe that although many people will say Carbquik is not a good choice, it really just all depends on the person and their diet. Let's face it okay if you had to choose between eating Carbquick pizza or going and ordering a pizza from your favorite pizza restaurant, which one do you think would be your healthiest option? Yes you're correct. Carbquik is the better choice when it comes to that. So just remember too much of anything is bad for us but if you're looking for a product to have on hand for those days where you just don't feel like making your own dough or bread from scratch then Carbquik is great in my opinion. You just mix with water and that is it and of course any spices or things you like to add in.
For me personally, I won't buy Carbquik all the time but I will keep it in my house for days where i feel like cheating and then remember "Oh wait, I have Carbquik, I can make something easy" and I feel like that will make things easier and allow me to still eat Keto when I'm on the verge of cheating. Carbquik is a little pricey but it is a Keto product and we all know we pay more to be able to live a keto lifestyle. All in all, Carbquik is okay in my opinion. It will allow me to still lose weight and make my life just a little easier at times. If you are interested in watching the video for this review, we did make this pizza in the video. You can find the video below or watch it here. Where Can I Buy Carbquik?
Good question. As far as I know and don't quote me on this but I have only seen it at Walmart and on Amazon. I can tell you that Carbquik is around $8 at Walmart for a 2 lb box of course depending on where you live the price may differ. Amazon has it for $14.99 but it is a 3 lb box so you do get more out of it so it may not be too far more than Walmart price. I live in Arizona and I can tell you that they do not carry it at all Walmarts though out of three Walmart store locations I occasionally shop at I have only seen it at the one location so just make sure you check your area or if you like online shopping as much as I do then there's always Amazon LOL
Ingredients:Shredded Parmesan Cheese Seasoning Instructions:Place about 1 Tablespoon of shredded parmesan onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Make sure you leave about an inch between each pile to make sure that once it melts in the oven they do not get stuck together. If this happens, it is fine you can just break them in half to separate them. Once you have your baking sheet filled season with any seasoning of your choice. Feel free to season with different seasonings so that you have a variety of flavors when you are craving a crunchy keto knack. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees and bake 5 to 7 minutes until outer edges are a little browned. The time may also depend on your oven so you can check it in 5 minutes. Once your keto parmesan cheese chips are done, remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes. These will very easily come off the parchment paper. Place into an airtight container or bag. There are no actual macros for this recipe since it would depend on how many you make and how many you eat. What I can tell you is these have less than 1 carb. These 1 ingredient cheese crackers are super easy and super tasty especially when your looking for that crunchy snack. If you ever loved cheez its you will totally love these.
You can do this with other cheeses as well but if your looking for a cheez it type cracker i recommend you use Sargento Ultra Thin cheese slices. If you do not get thin you will want to bake them up to 10 minutes longer depending on the cheese your using. In this breakfast we are using radishes to replace potatoes. Season your radishes directly and they will take on whatever flavor you give them. Add them to your chorizo and eggs and get your potato fix while staying within your macros. Ingredients:10 Large Eggs 8 oz Chorizo 1 Lb Radishes 1 TBSP Heavy Cream ¼ tsp Salt ½ tsp Pepper 1 tsp Onion Powder 1 tsp Garlic Powder Instructions:Rinse radishes and cut off ends and cut into small quarter pieces. Heat a skillet on medium heat and add about 1 TBSP oil. dd radishes to skillet and season with salt, pepper, garlic powder and onion powder (optional) Once radishes are tender, move to one side of the skillet and on the other side add in the chorizo and cook down for about 3 to 4 minutes and then mix in with the radishes. Beat eggs and mix in 1 TBSP Heavy Cream and pour into skillet and combine with chorizo and radishes. Cook until eggs are cooked.
